LK Chen Han Compact Swallow Tail Spear
Thank you so much - you are an incredible teacher: clear explanation, very good progressions, to the point.
where can i buy this
I’m not sure anymore, I bought this one in San Francisco Chinatown about 15 years ago. I’ve seen similar blades at Kult of Athena, but not this exact one.
Thank you sifu be safe sir.
Popular in CLF? NAH!
ming long spear? i find it rather ming short…
HA! 😅
My son is special needs and he really likes oriental fighting sports and weaponry; finds them very interesting.
as a mongolian lemme give you some info about mongolian saber, mongolian saber was perfect for warriors when the blade was the same length of its owners hand and thickness of the most wide area of its warriors 3 finger wide, the bottom part or the pommel had the symbol of the clan or the shape of the clans animal head, the hand guard had continuous reverse swastika’s engraved, the wood for the handle was made from a very hard wooden bush from todays bulgan province
Whoa flashback 1983, 14 yrs old, 1 yr into Kung Fu Wushu Snake, Fresno California, we had a visitor, Ernie Reyes Sr. he was a friend of our school and came to watch us, i think he was doing something tournament wise, long time ago. I remember the wiggly fingers and i overheard a voice say we have tape for those lizard feet. Now 55 no more wiggly fingers, also been years since i practiced, nice ptsd present from the 23yrs in the Coast Guard, but my doctors says i need to breathe and focus and that reminded me when i learned to breathe and focus and i found you. So i'm slowly reliving those moves one step at a time, i always felt Snake was much more fluid than some other styles i learned, plus the couple fight I've been in over 50 yrs ended quickly with the snake, decades ago. I've taught all my girls the 3 contacts that weight has no bearing on.
The Chinese were unable to fight their mongol overlords so the Chinese turned their Mongol overlords into Chinese overlords
I used some Paracord instead of a chain i used the traditional Okinawan design of nunchakus
PLEASE don’t call a nunchaku a numchuck or nunchuck or any other junior high school name. Please!
I particularly liked the final pass of the cord for a knot free result- cheers!
It exist in Han dynasty era, but it special made by blacksmith, not standart weapon. Green dragon crescent blade and snake spear are real in Han era, not myth.
Unfortunately, since neither original of the Green Dragon Crescent Blade nor the Snake Spear survived to this day, there were no sculptures, or artwork, and nothing similar was made until hundreds of years later, it is very doubtful.
@@SifuKuttel nope, Chinese very good at recording historical record and folk story from ancient time and already had advance metallurgy from thousands of years ago. If it said crescent blade and snake spear, it was exactly like that. The reason why it special weapon, it beacause it thickness and weight more than standart weapon, so it can have that special shape.
@@User-kjxklyntrw I’m still waiting for something even close to either weapon to be unearthed to be convinced otherwise. I think it would be awesome if they did exist and were wielded by the real Yunchang and Yide, but it is very difficult when myths are woven into cultural history. Either way, it wasn’t the weapon that made either man legendary generals and warriors, they didn’t need a custom blacksmith for that 💪💪💪
Does this shield guard sword feel like a rapier or a longsword?
I actually cannot say for certain because I’ve never handled a long sword and only once handled a rapier… with that said, it’s very similar in dimension to rapiers, so my best guess is that ✌️😅
This is such a badaaass looking sword! Something with the simplicity and balance gives it such elegance resembling a piece of art rather than a tool for violence.
From what my mom and uncles told me, martial arts schools (if orthodox), we call it a “pai”.
This is an awesome review of the saber. I love your wrist flicks while doing some light demonstrations. I can tell that the saber can cut and slash effectively.
Perfect edge alignment!
Mmm..i don't know. I have never seen an archeological version of this type of Jian. Do You know what they based on to make this one?
You can see an example on their website lkchensword.com/d-guard-han-jian
There are even some swords with shield-like handguards found from Han dynasty
Bonjour Sifu 🙏🏼Sh! oui très efficace 😊
Make that targeting look easy! Very neat set of swords.
Sifu, how does the D-Guard sword feel in the hand when you test-cut?
It feels great! I was very impressed with the swords cutting capabilities. It has a good balance and weight too, which makes it all the more effective in action!
This piece is handsome and dignified, yet not in the least "flashy". The genius of LK Chen is that he finds simple yet elegant historical swords. That way more of the price goes toward a quality blade, and less on fancy fittings.
Sublime 😍
Rising Crane to Elbow Strike sounds like a combo from fighting games lol

I wouldn't mind having it if you don't like the sword :P
Это больно
Man's tryna have kids cutting themselves 😂
This looks really useful! I'm developing combat forms for my ogre characters and one has a long and short sword together. I'm making a pair of nested ogre swords for her from oak. It will be a mobile form, but grounded. No jumps and only low kicks. Blocking and attacking go together. Other than that, I'm learning how two blades were historically used.
I would to know what short saber looks like.
There are actually two versions of sabers from the Han Dynasty, both have the same design, just different lengths. I have a video about the long saber ruclips.net/video/QT3gpYFi8p4/видео.htmlsi=jUqg-39QyAvZQkyu and a video using it for a Choy Li Fut saber form ruclips.net/video/OFDzBcl7NAo/видео.htmlsi=ziyC4RxsdlCu81Of and I have a review of the shorter sword as well ruclips.net/video/drc4nAUJMcA/видео.htmlsi=Q0F9qs1ipeY7ZDmH
awesome demonstration
Thank you!!!
That is so Kitana's moves.
These are wodao design that uses by special forces around coastal area. The actual Ming dao has broader width towards the tip but without yelman and not like the oxtail saber that comes 300 years later.
Turco-mongol sabre*
❤merci Sifu pour cette magnifique vidéo intéressante 🙏🏼🙏🏼☯️
Hmm I bet they’d have both sharp and blunt versions even in the past . Once you get a fencing culture you get a dueling culture very quick .
Clearly explained and executed. Thank you for this video and channel.
Great video!!!! Very solid technique!

What steel is that? On the LK chen site, there's 3 options to choose from.
Ahh yes, the mother of Katanas😊
Thank you for taking the time to share this brother

I do something similar in my wing chun butterfly sword form. 2 steps, 360-degree jump spin with a double sword chop. But we only do one jump forward and one jump back to the starting position, we don't chain them together. Maybe I should try that...
in situations where you cannot wear the sword
❤Merci Sofia pour cette intervention très intéressante 🙏🏼☯️🙏🏼
